Jack Socha INFO!

This man, known to his many fan as "Shep," had a profound influence on comedians, radio "personalities" and anyone who caught the Shep bug and loved his take on life.

Best known to modern audiences for "A Christmas Story," his nightly unscripted monologs were never matched.

Shep did not have a talk show with guests, he was the show.

One wonders what he would have had to say about the 21st Century!

Need Shep now? A good (free) place to start is right here.

Once hooked on Shep, save time and trouble and go to Mediaoutlet.com and buy 540 hours (!) of audio of Jean Shepherd shows on two DVDs filled with MP3s. Quality varies, but shows are indexed by years and are titled when possible. Well, WELL worth the small price!

My high school buddies Otis (L) and Henry (R) were Shep fans and we would discuss the previous night's show at school.

High school kids like us were not the "target audience" for his show. I'm sure he got fan letters from kids like us and they ended up in the "circular file!"
